The vacuum pump. This part was the first item found in the field and became the smoking gun for verifying that the site was most likely a B-17, as this piece is mounted on the inboard engine of the 1820-97 Wright Cyclone engine.



A diagram shows the valve and push-rod assembly as compared with elements found in the wreck site.
